Solar Energy Systems, LLC (SES) has completed the installation of Brooklyn's largest commercial solar electric system. The 68.4 kW system will provide 100% of the electricity needs for City Merchandise, New York's largest national tourist souvenir company based in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. SES, collaborating with area contractors, created the green-collar team, entirely Brooklyn-based, to install the system. | | No comments for this item |

WUXI, China — President Obamawants to make the United States “the world’s leading exporter of renewable energy,” but in his seven months in office, it is China that has stepped on the gas in an effort to become the dominant player in green energy — especially in solar power, and even in the United States. Chinese companies have already played a leading role in pushing down the price of solar panels by almost half over the last year. Shi Zhengrong, the chief executive and founder of China’s biggest solar panel manufacturer, Suntech Power Holdings, said in an interview here that Suntech, to build market share, is selling solar panels on the American market for less than the cost of the materials, assembly and shipping. | | No comments for this item |

"Believe it or not, Florida isn't the best place for solar," Davis said. "Even though we're considered the Sunshine State, we have too much cloud cover for solar." Florida Power & Light wants to build a solar energy project about half the size of a football field on a Sarasota County landfill, fulfilling a promise to customers who have been paying a little extra on their monthly power bills. The 250-kilowatt structure proposed for Rothenbach Park on Bee Ridge Road, east of Interstate 75, would be the largest solar panel array in Florida and one of the biggest in the Southeast, said FPL spokeswoman Pat Davis. "We know our customers have asked for this type of a project," Davis said.
