Homes with Solar Power Becoming a Standard
March 28th, 2011

Solar power companies are making huge strides these days, providing an alternative option for people looking to reduce their use of fossil fuels. Option being the key word here, because as with other energy efficient products, option usually implies a higher price tag. Some day though, every house will come with an affordable solar power system. That day might come sooner rather than later if KB Home has anything to say about it.

KB Home, who is already a leader in building energy efficient homes, now wants to take it one step farther by building homes with solar power systems as a standard feature. KB Home will provide solar power systems for its new homes in 10 Southern California communities becoming the first company in the industry to offer solar power systems already included. They are teaming up with SunPower Corp. who will provide the solar technology for the homes. KB Home already offers highly energy-efficient homes, but combining that with solar technology will make these homes some of the most efficient and affordable new homes on the market. Some other benefits include; federal tax credit for homeowners who qualify and lower monthly electricity bills.

KB Home and SunPower Corp. are leading the way, and other companies will surely follow suit. Solar power is the way of the future and by making it a standard in new homes, they have made it more affordable for homeowners to go green.
